From a report from the Public Relations Department of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Administration of Southern Khorasan:
With scrutiny of the file of the Martian (Merrikhi) Mountains to propose the registration on the Natural Heritage List and Registered by the Council, these mountains were on the National Register.
Mrs. Zahra Malakouti the Expert for registration on the Nature of Cultural Heritage Administration of the County in regards to this said: “On the sidelines of the Nehbandan to Kerman and 6 km South West of the town the amazing and beautiful hills called the Martian Mountains can be found. The shape and color of these hills at a first look remind us of the Moon and Martian Hills. The Martian (Merrikhi) Mountain is 25 km high and 1 Km wide and is red, gray and white. These mountains are sedimentary and lack vegetation. Eight of the hills towards the surrounding plains vary from 5 to 100 meters”.
The Martian (Merrikhi) Mountains of Southern Khorasan have been registered on the National Natural Heritage List
The Martin (Merrikhi) Mountains of Nehbandan have been registered on the National Natural Heritage List with the Number 261 on the 4th October, 2015.
