The Kaji Namkzar Pond

The Kaji Namkzar Pond in the City of Nehbandan with an area of 22, 765 hectares, is a hunting area under the Protection of the Environmental Administration in the County of Southern Khorasan.

The Kaji Namakzar Pond in the City of Nehbandan is a creation of appropriate conditions and has an over population of birds, and is one of the four areas of environmental protection for the increase of wildlife refuge. This Pond is a winter area for some migrant birds like: the Heron, Purple Heron, Coot and Cotton Pygmy. This pond is a vast salt marsh because it is lower than the surrounding area, and is the place of the accumulation of waste water in the region. Through Autumn and Winter, the pond has water and is a safe place for migratory birds with dry mounds and vegetation, and is a perfect place for nesting birds. Most of plants in this are Ghich, Tamarisk and Haloxylon (Tagh).
