The Esfandiyar Village (Contexture)

The Esfandiyar Village is a section of Deyhouk in the Town of Tabas located in South Khorasan. This village is the largest part of the Deyhouk section of Tabas. This village has a warm and desert climate and due to being located in the foothills it has relatively good weather compared to nearby villages and also near to the City Center. The village tourist attractions include the old terraced houses, water mills, handicrafts and a natural lush countryside. The village was named Esfandiar for the reason that a bush grows a lot in the land area known as Esfand. Esfandiar in the past was like a mountainous village with the houses built in a stacking feature on each other and were in the mountains. These houses weee built of clay and mud. The people of Esfandiar work in agriculture, livestock and harvest Asafoetida from the mountain and many of the people worked in the coal mines. Saffron is also a common agricultural product in the village of Esfandiar. Other major crops of this village are corn, alfalfa, wheat and barley and major horticultural crops are Pomegranates, Grapes and Berries.
