The Old Sycamore Tree of Razg

The Village of Razg is located 12 kilometers to the south of the City of Birjand and is located at intermountain position with regard to the old village of stone and mud houses and the slope of the mountain range, and the village is known as Masouleh of Southern Khorasan County.

The population of the village is about 20 families. The village Shrine of Sultan Mohammad Bagher someone who the people highly respect. This old tree is near to the grave and cemetery in the mountain area, and has a healthy and lustrous in appearance with a very large base where some of the boughs have grown up from the base in different sizes. From local research many years ago this tree was had a large bough with many buds on it, but with wind, storms the large crown and the bough of this tree was broken and the buds grew up to appear like in the following photo. The canopy of the tree is about 706 square meters. The tree is located in a place with regard to religion, and to the villagers is of value and they believe in it. The area of the village of Razg due to its topographical location has great gardens, and it is contains trees like Walnut, Peach, Berry and Jujube. This rare tree is invaluable due to its compatibility with the climate of the area and in terms of its vitality and age with the conditions of registration; it has been listed in the Country's National List of Nature. According to experts, it is estimated to be about 700 to 750 years old.
