The Old Mastic Tree of Rech

The Village of Rech is located in the southwest and functions under the City of Birjand. This village is on the hillside position and on intermountain of Rech and has an average altitude of 1,930 meters.

At the end of the village and rural houses and shrines along the Ghadamgah of Rech, a very thick and beautiful mastic tree can be found. The mastic tree has a diameter of 191 cm and covers an area of 225 square meters and according to experts, due to climatic constraints, dates back to over 1,000 years. The old tree in appearance is quite lustrous and from the lower part have a lot of branches that around a branch. Due to its location near the village pathway (Ghadamgah) for people is has dignity and respect. This tree is good for the people who believe in the sacred tree and are involved closely with it. According to a study performed at the time of filing of mastic trees it was identified to be the oldest mastic tree in Southern Khorasan and due to its stability in the region, the climate was most important for genetic studies.
